Get answers to common queries about SIMORGH's cloud platform, Edge acquisition system, and monitoring & imaging services.
01. What is SIMORGH and how does it work?
SIMORGH is a multimodal monitoring system built on a cloud-native SaaS platform for real-time and near real-time microseismic monitoring, structural health monitoring (SHM), and non-destructive testing (NDT). Data from sensors at your site, via our Edge system or your existing hardware, is securely streamed to our cloud infrastructure, where automated event detection, high-precision localization, seismic imaging and physics-based, AI-assisted interpretation turn raw waveforms into actionable insights. Results are visualized on an intuitive dashboard, with alerts delivered instantly through your preferred notification channels.
02. What's the difference between microseismic monitoring, SHM, and NDT?
All three run on the same underlying platform, applied at different scales, with data coming from different sensor types and installations accordingly. Microseismic monitoring (MSeis) operates at the scale of geological structures, faults, mines, reservoirs, landslides, and glacier deformation, resolving events from meters to kilometers. SHM tracks structural cracks and damage from millimeters to centimeters in bridges, dams, tunnels, and buildings. NDT resolves material degradation and defects from micrometers to several meters in composites, pipelines, and structural components.
03. Do you also offer seismic imaging surveys, or only continuous monitoring?
Both. Alongside continuous monitoring, we run passive seismic imaging (HVSR, SPAC, FK analysis, ambient noise tomography) and active seismic imaging using controlled sources. These are typically project-based surveys used for site characterization, bedrock depth, basin geometry, shear-wave velocity profiles, and fault, void, or sinkhole detection, and can be commissioned standalone or alongside a monitoring deployment.
04. How does the SaaS model work? Do I need on-site servers?
No on-site servers are required for the standard deployment. Sensors transmit data to our cloud infrastructure (hosted on AWS) and you access results, dashboards, and alerts through any web browser. We handle infrastructure, maintenance, and updates. For high-security requirements, we also offer a Hybrid option (cloud processing with a local data buffer) and can license On-premise deployments for air-gapped sites; contact us to discuss details.
05. Can your system integrate with existing sensor infrastructure?
Yes, the platform is sensor-agnostic and accepts standard waveform formats (MiniSEED, SEG-Y, ASCII, binary, etc.) from your existing recording system, and integrates with SCADA, maintenance management, and operational control systems via our API. If you need acquisition hardware, our Edge-M16 and Edge-M32 field units cover 16 or 32 synchronous channels over BNC and stream straight into the same platform.
06. What acquisition hardware do you offer?
The SIMORGH Edge Series: ruggedised 16- or 32-channel field units (16-bit ADC, >85 dB dynamic range, up to 1 MHz/channel) in an IP65 enclosure, with synchronized multi-channel sampling, local SSD buffering (2 TB on Edge-M16, 4 TB on Edge-M32) for offline recording, and remote configuration with OTA firmware updates. An optional active-source module adds pulse, swept-sine, or arbitrary waveform excitation for pulse-echo NDT and ultrasonic tomography on the same unit.
07. How accurate is the localization?
Accuracy depends on network geometry, sensor count, sensor type, and medium properties. A dense, custom-designed sensor network typically provides more accurate event localization than a conventional sensor deployment. We provide sensitivity analysis to define expected accuracy for your specific site.
08. What alert and notification options are available?
Alerts are tiered to match urgency: routine daily or weekly summaries of activity and trends, immediate notifications for events crossing magnitude or energy thresholds, and escalated critical alerts with automated response triggers. Delivery is via email, SMS, push notifications, webhooks, and API callbacks, with configurable spatial zones, temporal pattern rules, and multi-parameter thresholds, including downstream actions such as automated traffic diversion for bridge monitoring or equipment pause for high-energy mine events.
09. How is data security handled?
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest, hosted on AWS infrastructure. Role-based access controls, audit logging, and optional dedicated cloud instances for Enterprise clients provide additional protection.
10. Do you offer network design and full-service consulting, or just the software?
Both. The platform is available standalone or bundled with our full-service offering, which covers the entire monitoring lifecycle: sensor network design and optimization, data acquisition strategy, setup and processing configuration, interpretation and reporting (daily to quarterly), training and knowledge transfer, and ongoing performance review.
11. What support and training do you provide?
All tiers include technical assistance and troubleshooting support, with priority support and a dedicated account manager on Enterprise. Training options include on-site workshops, webinars, and certification programs so your team can operate independently.
12. How long does a deployment take?
Cloud platform configuration is typically operational within days once sensors are connected. Full turnkey project delivery, including network design, hardware assembly (8–16 weeks lead time for custom configurations), installation supervision, and commissioning, is scheduled around your site timeline and hardware lead time; we manage the complete process from initial site assessment to operational handover.
13. Do you offer a pilot program before a full deployment?
Yes. Our Starter tier is designed for single-structure monitoring and pilot projects, letting you validate the platform on a small channel count before scaling to a Professional or Enterprise deployment.
